About Us
The Spiritualist Society of Barrie is a satellite of the Orillia Star of Hope Spiritualist Church and is, therefore, associated with the Spiritualist Church of Canada.
For quite a while, we had been asked to form a centre for Spiritualism in Barrie. In May of 2009, the Board of Directors for the Orillia Star of Hope Spiritualist Church decided to foster and support the provision of services/meetings in the Barrie area, with the long-term plan to birth an independent Spiritualist Group in the area.
A committee has been meeting on a regular basis and is responsible for overseeing the development of the organization. In July of 2009, the name of the group was agreed upon.
On Saturday, September 11th, 2009, we held an opening event which was an ALL MEDIUMS' NIGHT. We were expecting an attendance of around 80 people, but 148 people turned up! It was a sign that we were on the right track.
After holding monthly services at Woods Park Care Centre, in Barrie, we moved premises to Holly United Church Centre in May, 2010, and now all services are held at this venue.
